If you plan to export somewhere else, like Mobile, indie-subscription can become more cheap and accessible.
TLTR: if you know for sure you will only want to export for Windows, buy permanent Desktop license. GameMaker: Studio is described as Continuing the legacy of Mark Overmars Animo and Game Maker, GameMaker: Studio is a proprietary game-creation system which can export to multiple platforms including Windows, HTML5, Linux, iOS, Mac and Android and is a Game Development Tool in the Development category. With subscription, you would just change it over to GMS3. Whenever GMS3 comes in the future (if it comes), permanent licenses will allow you to keep using GMS2 but it will depreciate eventually with no new updates. You still keep all permanent licenses you have.Īlso if you buy from Steam, you can connect it to your YYG account, so you don't have to open GMS2 from Steam.
So you could buy permanent Desktop license now, then later take a month of indie-subscription whenever you want to export to Mobile etc. Now if you have any permanent license, you will keep it, even if you take subscription too (and end it). If you only want to be able to export to one area, like Desktop, then go ahead and buy permanent for it if you feel like it. Only things which are not present in free version, are exporting (and few other things which are targeted for really advanced users), but you can still test your games in your computer. Whenever you take breaks from subscription, you can still keep using free version of GMS2 which has no time limit and basically all functionality. So if you want more licenses, I would go with indie-sub and you could subscribe only whenever need to export. Now if course of you are only interested to Desktop exports, it should be only 100€ for permanent.
Now with indie-export you only pay 8€/month, that same sum would take 4-5 years, and if you take breaks with sub, then even longer. So if you want all indie exports as permanent licenses, you have to pay 400-500€ upfront.
I remember that permanent licenses were about 100€ to 150€ over license. Permanent Mobile license to Android and iOS. Permanent Desktop license to Windows, Mac and Linux. The old permanent licenses, which you still can buy from Steam, allows only exports as follows: This indie-license let's you export your game to following platforms: Windows, Mac, Linux, HTML5, Android, iOS, and UWP. Indie-substriction is about 8€/month (or 85€/year). I don't know exchange rate or region specific pricing, but so I'll use euros. I think in your case you need only care about indie-sub. The new subscription system has two tiers: indie and enterprise. Buy key GameMaker Studio 2 Desktop STEAM GIFT / Russia from a trusted seller ICEGOLD default.
